
Captain Earl R Fryer of the 38th Fighter Squadron, 55th Fighter Group stands next to P-51D-5-NA (CG-Z, serial number 44-13804) nicknamed “Spunktown”. Named for his hometown, Boyertown, PA (known then as Spunktown) This aircraft was shared with Lt. Kenneth I Crawford who named it “Arabel” which was painted on the right side in similar style. Captain Fryer was killed in action while flying this P-51 on November 8th, 1944. Lt. Crawford had previously been killed in action on September 11th. 1944 while flying Lt. Clifton’s P-51D-5-NA (CG-T, serial number 44-13723) nicknamed “One Musthang”.
